ISU is home to a lab that focuses on developing strategies that enhance crop production, soil health, and cropping system profitability of vegetable crops in Iowa. One of the current main research projects is looking at the use of cover crops to improve soil quality. This research lab is led by Dr. Ajay Nair who is an Assistant Professor and Vegetable Extension Specialist. Many research studies conducted work closely with growers; therefore, research done by this lab is very applicable to Iowa vegetable farmers.
